Creative Writing Meets Educational Language
Creative writing in German classes? “We don’t have time for that. The participants have to pass exams.” This might be a typical reaction of some teachers when it comes to the topic of creative writing.
Dr. Nils Bernstein has a different perspective: “The learning effects of using creative writing promote literary competencies that can be measured in the oral and written performance of my German students.”
Analyzing, reasoning, summarizing, comparing, weighing – communicative skills that are essential to educational language can be taught excellently by working with fictional texts. In addition, the fun factor and the joy of creatively dealing with the foreign language may really boost the motivation of students.
This one-day seminar is designed for teachers of German working at universities or private language schools. It will enable you to teach your learners educational language skills with fresh, creative ideas. You will learn which exercises encourage creative writing, how to optimally structure teaching phases on this topic, and how to present and compare results. For example, with poetry slams.
The language of instruction is German. German language skills on level B2 (CEFR) are required.
